As far as I'm concerned there's just nothing better than black & white for the first look of the year.
The place we went for brunch is only a few block away from our flat - which made the walk in the cold & wet weather bearable.
To my surprise, this pair of OTK boots by Dolce Vita did a great job keeping my legs warm.
And they are super comfortable and easy to walk in!

Now where was I...food...brunch...
The mister and I went to Trace in the W Hotel for our first meal of 2015.
It's a modern, sleek and sophisticated restaurant with sidewalk sittings - which we didn't get to enjoy this time around due to the stubborn weather.
And they source their meats, greens and cheese from the locals of Central Texas.
We shared a bowl of Bulgarian yogurt parfait with housemade granola and seasonal, fresh fruits.
A glass of Bloody Mary for me and a hot cup of coffee for him.
Don't mind me eyeing our neighbors' plate of food as we were waiting for our to arrive.
Which I opted for Chicken Fried Lockhart Quail & Waffles.
It's crispy fried quail with gravy, maple syrup and pink peppercorn maple-butter.
The skin was crisp.
Meat was tender & juicy.
Waffles were perfect.
Light & fluffy texture.
The savory gravy and sweet syrup compliment the entree deliciously well.
It was exceptional!
And he went with Trace Market Migas.
If you don't already know Migas is scrambled eggs with tortilla strips, veggies and cheese served with a side of salsa and tortillas.
Trace version has additional of sliced avocado and cherry tomatoes.
It was egg-celent!
The mister thoroughly enjoyed his and mopped up his skillet clean.
Having finished our share of brunch, we stuck around a little bit longer with another cocktail.
We chatted about our new year resolutions and reflected on our highs and lows of 2014.
And I can't wait to see what 2015 has in store for us.
After all, the big day is only less than 2 months away.
