The only food I want on the weekends my days off is deliciously-messy food.

You know, like a Hopdoddy burger, really great pizza, 'banh mi' sliders, crispy fried chicken,  or freshly-made tortilla-bound tacos that are nothing short of devilish.
On weekends, the last thing I want to do is make a mess in the kitchen or get dolled-up to go out for lunch. Thankfully there's a local, trusty beast of a taco joint in Austin...
If you are even remotely familiar with Austin, you know which taco joint I'm talking about. But for those who are new to Austin or simply just visiting...
I give you the Austin intitution, *drumrolls* Torchy's Tacos!

Look at that hunk of a taco & creamy sauce.That fried avocado is just winking at you, isn't it?
The best thing about this filthy little beast?
It will be ready for you to pick up via online ordering. Go on, you can skip ahead of the line in the scorching heat & feel others green with envy as you walk away with a paper bag of goodies.

An executive chef, Michael Rypka, left his fancy job to follow his dreams & desire for some great street food. Shortly after, in 2006 Torchy's Tacos food trailer was opened on Bouldin Creek at South 1st & "damn good" became a rally cry because "damn these tacos are hella good".
The Taco Dream grew & took on a life of its own with long lines & happy customers at the trailer park & several store fronts.

Don't let the aluminum foil fool you...underneath the wrapper are some of the best tacos I've ever had.

We got several orders.
The Washingtonian - it's a little saucy, a little sophisticated & it's euphoric beyond belief. (pulled smoked pork & grilled onion topped with jack cheese, pickles, sour cream, avocado - served with Chipotle bbq sauce.
The Fried Avocado - the key to happiness, esp. to you vegetarians. Just imagine how good a crunchy-melty wedge of deep-fried avocado is & the poblano ranch dressing on top has just the right amount of peppery tangy to spicy things up without harshing the avocado's mellow.
The Democrat - a delicious taco filled with barbacoa topped with chopped onions, avocado, cilantro, lime wedge & queso fresco.
Crossroads - This taco is like heaven & out of this world if you're a huge brisket fan. (smoked beef brisket with grilled onions, jalapenos, cilantro, jack cheese & a slice of avocado - served with tomatillo sauce).
Migas - another delicious vegetarian taco filled with scrambled eggs, crispy corn tortilla strips, shredded cheese & avocado - served with pico de gallo & green chilies sauce.

Because we're smartypants & ordered online to skip the line...our orders are packed as to go in aluminum foil & our sauces are packed in little to-go containers.
Not exactly aesthetically pleasing as they could have been if we were to order in person.
But it's nothing to fret about.
Just smother your tacos in Torchy's award-wining salsa sauces & everything will be perfect again.

A veritable feast of happiness.
If you're adventurous like me you would double two different sauces too.

Take a big bite.
Go ahead, you know you want to.

It's not very classy, I know. But this is how you oughta do it.
I highly recommend you do the same.
