Devil's Cove

By Unknown - 11:35 PM

Our friends, Bobby & Suzy, kindly invited us for a Saturday fun day out on Lake Travis.
We woke up bright & early & ready to soak up the fun.

Of course, we can't show up empty handed.
An hour before we left to meet everyone at the Rough Hollow Yatch Club, I chopped up a watermelon & grilled my overnight-marinated buttermilk chickens.

They taste as delicious as they look.
I can conquer almost any obstacles involving baking, cooking & grilling...
Driving, on the other hand, is a completely different story. Big surprise, I know ;). I'm not a terrible driver but I'm not exactly good with driving directions. Let's put it this way, it was only supposed to take 30 minutes to get to our destination...well, it took me almost an hour to get us there. I know, I know what you're thinking, why didn't I use my phone for navigation? I was trying to avoid having any contact or using my cellular device while on the road. So there! We got to our meeting spot safe & sound & right on time with the help of both Chris' & Karl's phone navigation.

The drought that grips Texas is a natural disaster in slow motion.
Life of the lake itself slows down, falters & begins to fade.
It's a killing heat that grips the state.
Even though the water level is not as high as it should be, it's enough for some fun on the lake...but it is still super low so the marina built these solar-powered elevators to go up & down.
The ride getting up & down is rather slow, possibly as fast as a turtle's pace.
Nonetheless, it was much better than having to hike up & down the steep staircase.

Obligatory group photos are a must before we take off to Devil's Cove.

Devil's Cove is the party cove & meeting place for boaters on Lake Travis.
On a Holiday weekend you can expect hundreds or thousands of boats of all sizes & many lines of tie-ups.
Go on Google it & see for yourself.

And we spent the whole day sun bathing, swimming & drinking like fishes.

And a lot of dancing...

With Suzy coaching & cheering, Bobby out-shined us girls & showed us how to really shake it.

I'll let you in on another secret, I don't know how to swim.
Then again, who says you have to be in the water to enjoy yourself?
I much rather lay out...under cerulean sky with a rainbow.

The party thrives on until the sun slowly makes it way down when we succumbed & sped back to the dock.

There's still a few weeks of summer left, get our here next weekend or one after that & soak up the fun. This place will be jam packed for the Labor Day weekend, for sure.
Don't let the summer rays slip away.
Enjoy yourself!
You deserve it!
