I have not been sharing with you much of stories about the scenes of Austin.
There has been over 100 restaurants popped up all over this town.
I've been meaning to write this post a few 10 months ago but never got around to it.
Last March 2015, I surprised the mister with a birthday dinner at Counter 3 FIVE VII.

The great open-kitchen-dining room is unlike any other.
Every diner sits in one room, along the counter and all face towards the middle of the kitchen.
It is not designed to sit gazing into each other's eyes, this is a food lover's culinary paradise.
And there's lots to watch.

Easily the best tentacle of octopus we've ever had!
And a glass of Assyrtiko, Argyros from Santorini, Greece enhanced all the flavors it has to offer.

It is so fun and entertaining to watch the pros in action as we were waiting for our next course.

And soon two beautiful plates filled with a filet of lamb, sweet breads, turnip, and fennel glided over the counter top in front of us, ready to be devoured.

I can't decide if this filet of lamb was my favorite compared to the octopus.
But it paired really well with a glass of "Belial", Poggio Anima from Tuscany, Italy.

Before we knew it, the savory courses were over.
And I still have several glasses of wine left to consume.

Sweets arrived in the shape of carrot cake.

Light,  fluffy, sweet with toasted pecans and topped with coconut ice-cream, edible flowers, and candied ginger.

Paired with Cypres de Climens Sauternes from Barsac, France.
By now, my tastebuds are drunk and happy, and cannot distinguish the different from what wine is from where or what note/flavor.

Followed by the walnut cheesecake, which was paired with a glass of light Riesling Rudescheimer, Magdalenenkreuz Spatlese from Leitz Rheingau, Germany.

A rich mascarpone base cheesecake, with pureed fresh strawberry and radish.

By the time we'd finished desserts and raised our heads from our wine-induced-giggling-conversations, the culinary experience still happening around us. Along with new face of different diners.

We finished our wine and were sent home with a few nibbles.

Counter 3 FIVE VII is wonderful.

The perfect venue for a special occasion and you need to book ahead.

Perhaps, for this upcoming Valentine's Day.
