Lotus of Siam - Las Vegas

By Vy Primozich - 10:07 PM

Back in August, our friend Chip kindly invited everyone to celebrate his (delayed) birthday in Las Vegas (in reality he planned this trip with the boys fantasy football draft in mind). But I'm happy to tag along. Surely, I could not pass up an adventure in the sin city with great company!

Chip and his wife Siobhan were beyond generous and booked each suite for each couple.
The birthday boy got the best view from their penthouse at the MGM Grand.

And for our first night in Vegas, they had us chauffeured to dinner off the strip at Lotus of Siam.

Despite its unlikely location in a non-descript strip mall, Lotus of Siam (among many other awards and recognition for the outstanding and authentic food) has earned the title of Best Thai Restaurant in America from Gourmet magazine.

Many many many glasses bottles of wine later, plates of food arrived.
With a menu of over 100+ items, we ordered a bit of everything.
And they all were oh so gooood!
I could live in Vegas and comes here every day just to try all the dishes they have to offer.
My least favorites were the noodle dishes - lack of flavor and depth compared to all the other entrees.

(Don't ask the name of the dishes. Quite frankly, I don't remember because it was 4 months ago and I wasn't exactly 100% coherent after drink a couple bottles of wine at the table. Forgive me.)

And the entrees were served with a heaping bowl of steamed Jasmine rice.
With condiments available to spice up your dish to your liking.

We ended the dinner with several plates of the tradition summer dessert, Thai Sweet Sticky Rice with Mango.
Steamed sticky rice + coconut milk = refreshingly delicious sweetened sticky rice topped with fresh, ripped mango slices & toasted sesame.

I might or might not have eaten two plates of it.
If you visit Las Vegas, carve out time to visit Lotus of Siam.
You won't be disappointed, I promise.
A word of advice: do book a reservation ahead of time.
